The log cabin is the perfect environment as its quiet and private so you can feel comfortable coming for this service.

I began my career at 16 and set up a mobile hairdressing service in Leeds with the help of The Princes Youth Business Trust when I was 20.

Considering a career change in my early 30’s, I studied for a degree in Business Studies at the University of Leeds but realised 3 years into the course that hair was what I loved doing. I completed the degree, and with a refreshed focus on hairdressing, used the knowledge to set up Mango Hair Design.

In 2010, I joined the team at Intuitions Ltd, Harrogate’s premier training college for Hair and Beauty Qualifications, as an Educator and Assessor teaching Level 1, 2 and 3 NVQ Hairdressing and I went back to University myself to gain the teaching qualification Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Huddersfield. I left Intuitions as I wanted to concentrate on my new venture, working in the hair studio salon in my  log cabin.

The Mango Misson

The aim at Mango Hair Design is to provide an enjoyable and relaxed service in a comfortable, quiet environment. There is the added benefit of Wi-Fi, a comfortable waiting area and toilet facilities available in the purpose built log cabin. A variety of refreshments are offered including non-milk soya alternatives if desired.

A range of products are available to purchase including cruelty free certified products and alongside Wella colours, there is an additional range of colours, Sensus which are cruelty free hair colour and suitable for those following a vegan lifestyle and want a certified vegan hair colour brand.

Mango is a fully insured and always requires a skin test on new clients.

Giving Back

In 2020 I qualified as an Independent Hairdressing Practitioner, having completed the Cancer Hair Care Hairdressing Practitioner Level 1 Course.

The charity, Cancer Hair Care, offers free services that span the entire hair loss journey and concentrate on all aspects of hair loss and hair loss prevention, right through to new hair growth into recovery.

My role as a volunteer telephone consultant involves giving helpful advice and support helping people throughout their hair journey before, during and after cancer treatment.

The weekend of the 22nd January 2024 I attended the first Cancer Hair Care charity conference and gained a further qualification Workplace Hair loss Support.

I support the Little Princess Trust, a charity who  provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.  I am also a trained stylist for the My New Hair campaign, who provide public advice and support a national network of independent salons and professionals who offer a wig styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.
